Creative dance classes for young children
& adolescents:
The goal of these classes is to introduce children to dance and movement
vocabulary based on their own developmentally focused abilities. They
will explore these movements through improvisational dances to a wide
variety of music. They will explore all the natural ways their bodies
can move, and how moving in all of these different ways enable them to
express their feelings. In this way they will each find their own dance
within. These concepts are explored by learning about rhythm, music and
the process involved in creating, performing and viewing the dance. In
these classes they will explore their bodies both in lively motion and
stillness, as they learn to listen and be moved by the quiet inner place
within themselves.
This creative dance focus develops into a Modern
Dance and Yoga class for those children ready for a bit more
structure and form in the 5- 8 and 9 & up age levels.
Dancing & Yoga for the Special Child
classes combine the activities of creative dance and yoga discussed above,
with specific attention to the individual and unique concerns of infants
and children with special needs. These classes are grouped by age an ability.
In addition children with special needs are encouraged and often integrated
into all of the classes mentioned, when able. |
